It was 4 PM on 10th of may.I was watching a movie at home and my phone rang. If you have done your preparation with dedication and focus, and you’ll succeed for sure. Now you are fully prepared for facing the exam. You must not talk about exam and syllabus coverage with others as that will only increase your stress. But instead of movie I will recommend meditation techniques. While you keep on revising difficult parts and essential facts, you must calm yourself down. I think the best way is to combine first and third approach. Some revise only difficult parts and facts. There are many things aspirants do on these days. You must keep 2 days before the exam vacant. You may shift to you’re micro notes in this phase. Some facts and figures like tags of essential economic data must be revised in this phase. As by now your concepts must be strong as well as your analysis. You must focus on necessary facts and figures. And though it seems implausible, you’ll finish you’re whole revision in 5 – 6 days. Thus revision must be very fast and it usually is. Now you’re in last week or so of the exam date. Though you are reading all, focus this revision on conceptual parts. Don’t go to a new source just to cover one or two topics. See if you have missed something from your source and read it too. You read directly from your underlined basic source. As you don’t read new material and you have already prepared noted or underlined important points, you can revise each subject in one or two days. It has been observed that UPSC is always forecasting the events and asks questions about events in future, so it helps. It also keeps you on your usual routine so you do not feel different. As news is always in the making, it helps brush up your knowledge about past events. There may not be a direct impact but indirectly it helps a lot. Many aspirants and successful candidates believe that there is no exam value to current affairs of period one month before exam as paper is already set. New books only give you tension of being left behind, nothing much else. Now focus on materials you’re comfortable with. If you think material you are using is quality enough to get you this near to exam, its enough to clear it. Chose your books and don’t divert yourself with any new material. For those who have cleared pre before, they can go for tests, as they are more confident of their abilities and skills.Ģ. This is for those who have not cleared prelims before. You must not get tensed over marks or be over confidence. You will only divert your attention to subjects that you get less marks in. I’m Sharing my strategy for last 20 days of preparation.

It’s only to say that there is still hope if you prepare with full dedication. I got 140 in paper 1 and 180 in paper 2, last year. But in my subsequent attempts I only prepared for last 15 days or so. I prepared for about 4 months in my first attempt. You are more concentrated, more focused and more skilled in real exam. Let me assure you that everything is better in real exam. You must be remembering scores of your practice tests. Many of you must be now remembering things that you’ve not prepared. All of you must be in your last phases of preparation. It’s high time for all UPSC aspirants as prelims is within sights.
